WOODLAND AND FINAU JOIN A STACKED FIELD FOR THE 2022 CADENCE BANK HOUSTON OPEN

OCTOBER 26, 2022

HOUSTON, Texas - 2019 U.S. Open champion Gary Woodland and four-time PGA TOUR winner Tony Finau join a staked field for the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open set for Nov. 10-13 at Memorial Park Golf Course in the heart of Houston.

Finau and Woodland join a field already highlighted by the No. 1 player in the world and 2022 Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler, while also featuring Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama.

Woodland was the winner of the 2019 U.S. Open major championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links, which was his fourth PGA TOUR win. His other wins include the 2018 Waste Management Phoenix Open, the 2013 Reno-Tahoe Open and the 2011 Transitions Championship. A member of the Tour since 2009, Woodland boasts 52 career top-10 finishes and has made the cut in 235 career appearances. He also joined Finau on the 2019 Presidents Cup team. Woodland returns to the Houston Open for the sixth time in his career in 2022.

Like Woodland, Finau will also bring four PGA TOUR wins to the table at the Houston Open, one of which includes a FedEx Cup playoff win at The 2021 The Northern Trust. Some of his other notable wins include two during the 2021-2022 season at the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortgage Classic, which occurred just one week apart in July. He also finished second at the RBC Canadian Open in 2021-22, and his two wins during the 2022 season ranked tied for the fifth on the PGA TOUR. In the 2021-22 circuit, Finau had seven top-10 finishes and ranked ninth in the FedEx Cup. He boasts 10 career second place finishes and has finished in the top-10 in 54 career events. Finau was also Woodland's teammate on the 2019 Presidents Cup team and has been a member of two President Cup teams and two Ryder Cup teams. This year’s Houston Open will be Finau’s seventh of his career.

ABOUT THE ASTROS GOLF FOUNDATION
The Astros Golf Foundation, founded by Houston Astros Owner & Chairman Jim Crane, is the 501c3 non-profit organization responsible for operating the annual Houston Open.

The Astros Golf Foundation took ownership of the tournament in 2018 with three key objectives: to ensure the PGA TOUR event remained in Houston, to bring the tournament back to its glory and into the heart of the city, and to provide much needed resources and funds to the citizens and community of Houston through park improvements, charitable fundraising and investing in youth. These objectives were achieved through a $34 million renovation to Memorial Park Golf Course completed in two years. The renovations include an upgrade of the municipal course to PGA TOUR standards, construction of a short course for First Tee participants, an expanded driving range, and a new clubhouse that will serve First Tee Houston programming throughout the year.

Additionally, the Astros Golf Foundation will operate and serve underprivileged youth throughout the city with a state-of-the-art facility, the Chevron Center for Education and Golf. This facility will operate year-round and not only provide First Tee instruction, but also serve as a STEM educational center for children in need. The Astros Golf Foundation has also made investments in both scholarship and youth programming at the facility.

The mission of the Astros Golf Foundation is to enrich the lives of Houstonians and empower the community through the game of golf. For more information on the Astros Golf Foundation, please visit HoustonOpenGolf.com.
